Personalities

To all you software creators and web junkies out there.

Here is an idea that may interest you for future software and web development.

I call it Personalities.

I have a few personalities - that are all me - but - I like to keep them totally separate and I do not want the one to know of or interfere with the other. One may call it multiple split personality if you wish. I think Google started to touch on this already and called it Circles. But it needs to be split more radically.

Lets take me for example:
ME
Firstly I am me - who need to stay in contact with all of the below.

Private
- a private individual who have very specific private friends. I have no interest to share these with anybody

Work
Then I have work contacts - and I do not want them to see or know my Private friends or see or hear what I tell them.

Private Work one
I also am doing one private work - for myself and one set of friends. This I do not want to share with any of the other personalities

Private work two
And I am doing another private work - for myself and yet another set of friends. This is do not want to share with the others either.

Except sometimes - I do have very special friends who I will allow to see glimpses of what is going on in my other personalities.

Now this personality split must be deep and far reaching...

When I start my computer I must be able to select a Personality. Or at a later stage I may decide to change to a different personality.

And from that minute my computer must be TOTALLY that personality!

For example if I choose my Work personality: What I see-in Outlook must be work emails, work appointments, work contacts and work tasks. If I connect to networks it must connect to my work network. When I open Word it must see my work documents and images. And in communicator or I.M. or whatever it must be work all the way.

And so on for every profile.

If I want to work on my Private work two - I want to select that personality and from that moment on all I see on my computer must be related to this personality.

While I am one personality - I may choose to - on a selective basis of course allow to open up another personality - sort of come out of the closet :) or just open it up to one of my friends.

And then, of course, I am me. I may also select to see all at once under specific circumstances. Just because I am me.

How is that for a challenge?

Apple iPad 2 review

Where the iPad 2 really comes into its own is its operating system. The device runs on iOS5 and the software makes basic hardware into a nearly indispensable gadget.

Web browsing is fast and immersive, the in-built apps for email, organisation and messaging are so easy to use it's frightening and the platform benefits from a wealth of apps in the Apple App Store, many of which are designed with the iPad 2 specifically in mind.

But Apple's iPad 2 isn't overly blessed in the photographic department. The device features a front facing VGA camera for FaceTime use and a 0.7-megapixel rear-facing, or primary, camera for everything else.

 At 241mm tall, 186mm wide, and 8.6mm thick, the iPad 2 is just a hair smaller than the original iPad and it's thinner than the iPhone 4. It has a curved edge that makes it look a bit more 'space age' and, surprisingly, easier to grasp because you can curve your fingers more easily around the bezel.
